Book Review from The Gentle Law

Matt Bianca reviewed Religion Unburdened by Belief on his Substack, The Gentle Law, calling it “an ambitious, sprawling, and genuinely provocative work” whose central claim, that minimizing belief opens pathways to religious experience, is “counterintuitive yet compelling.”

Matt Bianca holds a PhD in Education and Socio-Educational Intervention (University of Oviedo), with academic training in Pali and Sanskrit, a Diploma in Advanced Buddhist Studies (University of Mumbai), and an MBSR certificate (Palouse Mindfulness Center). He teaches early Buddhist texts at The Gentle Law, a non-sectarian school for modern practitioners.

My take: it’s the kind of review an author fantasizes about receiving and then assumes will never actually happen. Somewhere Matt is fending off a fully prostrate author, forehead to the floor, arms outstretched in gratitude 🙇.
